La Altagracia is the easternmost province of the Dominican Republic. La Altagracia covers an area about 3010 sq. km. The variety of unique landscapes, the bright colors of the tropics, the endless summer and the colors of local exotic made this area especially attractive for the tourists. Have you been here before? If not – we definitely suggest you this unforgettable individual tour and visit a part of the unique places of this mysterious and paradise country – the Dominican Republic.

Our individual tour will begin early morning. We recommend you to take care of yourself and take sun hats, sunglasses and the most comfortable shoes you have, as an adventure should be comfort for you in all aspects. We also suggest you to take a swimsuit and other accessories as you will have a time and possibility to swim and dive.

  • First of all, we will pass through the resort town – Beron and after half an hour you will find yourself in an unusually exotic place. As the legend tells, the village of La Otra Banda was founded by pirates who attacked Spanish ships. You will get to know with local traditions and way of life of the indigenous population, among which Creoles are the majority.
  • Moving further along the road to La Altagracia, we will reach the administrative center of the province – Higuey city. Let’s start to observe the main attractions of the city. First – Basílica Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia is the largest church where the famous miraculous icon of the Mother of God of Altagracia is situated. She is the patron saint of the state, she appeared as protector and spiritual mother of the Dominican people. Once a year, on January 21, Catholic pilgrims, as well as a crowd of tourists, come here for a grand celebration to see with their own eyes this great basilica and ask for blessings from the saint.
  • La Altagracia is a region with the good conditions for growing sugarcane. The cultivation of this culture is the basis of the region’s economy. Therefore, the next point of our excursion will be a reed plantation. Fans of thrills will be able to pick up a machete and try yourself at harvesting this plant.
  • The next destination is the museum of Juan Ponce de Leon, the legendary conqueror, traveler and explorer who left his mark on the history of the American continent. You will see preserved household items and artifacts, including 16th century furniture.
  • A boat will be waiting for you in Boca de Yuma. We will take a short river walk and enjoy the stunning tropical landscapes of La Altagracia. This is a special region and sophisticated travelers are called it the Dominican Republic in miniature. Take an exciting hike through a real cave, swim and refresh yourself in a clear crystal water there is even a chance after a grueling midday heat to freshen up and swim in the crystal, clear water of the underground lake. Exactly amazing feelings after the day sweltering heat.
  • After visiting the caves, you will find yourself on the shore of a picturesque natural pool formed by coastal cliffs. Teenagers of La Altagracia even dive here from the cliffs, and you can follow their example.
  • After all activities you are probably will a bit tired. We will offer you to have a rest and lunch on the coast. Take a break, capture a few more pictures of this fabulous place.
  • On the way back, we will visit a souvenir shop that you could buy some gifts for you or your friends as a keepsake of this beautiful province.

Our Tour Guides will be wearing a mask throughout the duration of the tour and wearing gloves when sanitizing, taking temperatures, opening/closing doors, and providing sanitizer to guests.

Before leaving our dispatch, each Tour Guide will ensure that all surfaces in the vehicle are properly sanitized and wiped down.

Prior to any guest entering the vehicle at their pickup location our Tour Guide will use a non-contact thermometer to ensure that anyone with a fever or anyone travelling with others who have a fever (any temperature over 99 degrees Fahrenheit) do not enter the vehicle. If a customer has a fever we will issue a full refund.

During the excursion our Tour Guides will be the only individuals to open and close the doors of the vehicle.

At each stop when guests exit the vehicle our Tour Guide will use sanitary wipes to disinfect commonly touched areas inside the vehicle.

Upon getting back into the vehicle our Tour Guide will provide hand sanitizer or wipes for each customer.

At the end of each tour all surfaces inside the vehicle will be sanitized and wiped down. We will limit the number of guests on our tours to 8 people.

We are expanding our communications about our refund policy to ensure anyone who is not feeling well will receive a full refund for the tour if cancelled.

Our leadership team will continue to actively monitor the recommendations from the CDC, WHO, and OHA and implement best-practices accordingly.

When you place your reservation we collect your name, email address, phone number, and home address so that if we receive notification that a guest has tested positive for COVID-19 we can contact all other guests that were on that tour.
