Santo Domingo is the capital and the largest city of the Dominican Republic. Founded by Bartholomew Columbus in 1496, the city is the oldest continuously inhabited European settlement in the Americas. This city survived a lot of great and tragic moments. All of these left a mark on the historical appearance of the city.

Santo Domingo is the site of the first university, cathedral, castle, monastery, and fortress in the New World. It is a city full of magic and charms, declared by UNESCO as World Heritage Site in 1990. The Colonial City is one of the most important tourist destinations in Santo Domingo and the most visited in the Dominican Republic.

Santo Domingo is a cultural center of the Dominican Republic. In this city is the location of numerous museums and other different historical places. Architecture is amazing. It is exactly true, that this tour in a heart of Santo Domingo with us, leave a great impression.

We are starting early morning to have a possibility to show you more. Santo Domingo is located in the south coast of the island, on the flat part of the Caribbean coast, characterized by tropical humid climate. The road will take about 2 hours. But you will not be bored, exactly. Our guide will conduct your trip with an interesting facts about the country, mysterious legends and stories about the way of life in the last centuries.

  • The first destination is a National Park «Los Tres Ojos”. This is a unique cave near Santo Domingo city. The name of this park means «3 eyes», because inside the cave there are 3 lakes, located at a depth of 15 m, under the vaults of the void. Each of them has a special composition and color of the water. For a long time, the dungeon was a real holy place and a venue for religious rites of the indigenous population. Now this cave is visited by a huge number of tourists from around the world. For their convenience and safety, the area is equipped with ladders and bridges.
  • 10 minutes later, you will see an amazing architectural building – the Columbus Lighthouse, erected in honor of the 500th anniversary of the conquest of the New World in Santo Domingo. In the inner section there is a tomb, with the burial of the remains of Christopher Columbus.
  • The next stage of your excursion is the Museum of Casa Real (Royal House), where you will learn many interesting details about the Columbus travels and about the foreign influence on the development of the New World.
  • Leaving the gallery, you will get to the Las Damas Street, where are many other very interesting memorials. One of them is the famous National Pantheon of the Dominican Republic. This is a big historical building. Created in 1714-1746 and was originally a Jesuit Church. Today Pantheon stands as a national symbol of the Dominican Republic and serves as the final resting place of the RepublicS most honored citizens.
  • Osama Fortress, where you can make incredibly spectacular pictures, is the oldest military fort built during the colonization of America. The fortress takes a pride place in the World Heritage List. During the tour you can admire the ancient towers and the monument of Gonzalo Fernandez de Oviedo, who led the soldiers garrison at those time.
  • A worth completion of the tour in Santo Domingo will be a visiting of the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It was built in the middle of the 16th century of a coral-golden limestone. The architecture of the temple combines majestic Gothic and luxurious baroque style. Treasury of Cathedral stores the wooden statues, furniture and the most valuable samples of silver utensils.

After sightseeing, you will have a possibility to go in cinema theater to watch an interesting and educational film about the important historical pages of this country and the main ancient monuments.

Our Tour Guides will be wearing a mask throughout the duration of the tour and wearing gloves when sanitizing, taking temperatures, opening/closing doors, and providing sanitizer to guests.

Before leaving our dispatch, each Tour Guide will ensure that all surfaces in the vehicle are properly sanitized and wiped down.

Prior to any guest entering the vehicle at their pickup location our Tour Guide will use a non-contact thermometer to ensure that anyone with a fever or anyone travelling with others who have a fever (any temperature over 99 degrees Fahrenheit) do not enter the vehicle. If a customer has a fever we will issue a full refund.

During the excursion our Tour Guides will be the only individuals to open and close the doors of the vehicle.

At each stop when guests exit the vehicle our Tour Guide will use sanitary wipes to disinfect commonly touched areas inside the vehicle.

Upon getting back into the vehicle our Tour Guide will provide hand sanitizer or wipes for each customer.

At the end of each tour all surfaces inside the vehicle will be sanitized and wiped down. We will limit the number of guests on our tours to 8 people.

We are expanding our communications about our refund policy to ensure anyone who is not feeling well will receive a full refund for the tour if cancelled.

Our leadership team will continue to actively monitor the recommendations from the CDC, WHO, and OHA and implement best-practices accordingly.

When you place your reservation we collect your name, email address, phone number, and home address so that if we receive notification that a guest has tested positive for COVID-19 we can contact all other guests that were on that tour.
